When Mona Lattouf's initial job-hunting efforts didn't pay off, the recent college grad got creative.
Using a digital camera, the Orange County, Calif., resident created a two-minute "video resume" that included highlights from her paper resume and answers to common interview questions.
Within two to three weeks of sending hiring managers a link to her video, she received several calls back. "It was truly painless," says Ms. Lattouf, who landed a job as a junior accountant in October. More...

Hire for Attitude, Train for Skills

You can't build a great company without great people.
Plenty of organizations still hire for skills and experience, but more and more of them are realizing that the right attitude can make the difference between a star performer and a run of the mill employee.
As long as a person has the mental and physical capacity to get the job done then what he or she knows is less important than how they will behave.
The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. When seeking out people with great attitudes, focus on how they reacted to situations in the past. Use the three magic words, “Tell me about…” .... (Mais...)

As chairman of Veredus, the UK-based national recruitment consultancy, Hamish Davidson has met thousands of MBA students and seen CVs from graduates of the world's top business schools. He is not impressed.
